Sustainable Design as Poetry of Nature: Imago by G.T.DESIGN at Milano Design Week 2026
Signature rugs born from regeneration, selected by AD Middle East among the boldest ideas of this year's Design Week
Sustainable design takes many forms, but rarely does it arrive as a rug capable of telling the story of material transformation as a poetic act.
“Imago” – the new capsule collection by G.T.DESIGN, presented at Milano Design Week 2026 and designed by Deanna Comellini – does exactly this. Selected by AD Middle East as one of the products «from the most brilliant designers» and «most bold ideas» on the international scene, “Imago” is a collection that earns its place in the conversation about what luxury design can and should be.
A recognition that confirms what G.T.DESIGN has long believed: that aesthetic research and environmental responsibility go hand in hand.

Imago: the rug as a transforming ecosystem
Like buds on the verge of blooming, "Imago" rugs present themselves as visual ecosystems in constant flux. Inspired by the four natural elements, the collection explores the fluidity of light reflections, the delicacy of the ocean floor, and the gentle movement of water in a still pond. Primordial patterns merge with chromatic accents that dissolve and recompose – like brushstrokes suspended in water – inviting each observer into a personal, meditative encounter.
Presented in the new Native B shape, Imago continues Comellini's research into primordial organic forms, fully aligned with Milano Design Week 2026's theme: «Active Imagination». Each rug becomes an intimate map to be freely interpreted, transforming space into a poetic and multisensory experience. The Native shape – a G.T.DESIGN exclusive – is the hallmark of the entire UltraNative line: soft contours, organic geometries, controlled asymmetries. Organic design as a language.
Econyl: avant-garde yarn for regenerated luxury
Made in 100% Econyl – the regenerated yarn developed in Italy from textile waste and fishing nets recovered from the oceans – Imago redefines the very concept of the modern rug. Not simply a beautiful object, but one with a story of recycling and rebirth embedded in every fiber.
Econyl is ultra-resistant, versatile, and fully recyclable. In Imago, this avant-garde sustainable yarn becomes the perfect medium for expressing regeneration: a material that is already, in itself, a second life of nature. For G.T.DESIGN – a pioneer in the use of natural fibers and sustainable yarns since 1977 – choosing Econyl is an act consistent with nearly fifty years of responsible textile research.
Why Imago is a genuine sustainable design project:
- Made in 100% Econyl, regenerated from fishing nets and textile waste
- Fully recyclable at end of life
- Exclusive Native shape and new Native B shape, both customisable
- Organic design inspired by the four natural elements
- Suited to luxury residential, contract and installation projects
Reading Imago in an interior design project
The designer rugs of the “Imago” collection work on multiple levels. In minimalist environments, the organic Native shape becomes floor sculpture – an element that defines space without walls or partitions. In biophilic interiors, the organic design and evocative palette dialogue naturally with living materials such as wood, stone, and greenery.
Every rug in the collection is available in customisable dimensions, designed to respond to the requirements of architects and interior designers who work on projects where uniqueness is a given, not an option.
Deanna Comellini's vision
«With Imago we continue our research into primordial organic forms. Each rug is an intimate map to be freely interpreted: a space of recollection that transforms the environment into a poetic and multisensory experience, where design, color and form engage in dialogue with those who observe and move through the installation.»
